A Wedding at the Chapel on Main and Waterfront Beach Resort
A Canadian sweetheart marries a Huntington Beach, CA hockey player!
They meet in Sweden. God hand pulled both of them to the other side of the world to introduce them and they felt an immediate and incredible connection. Shar, a Canadian, was in Sweden visiting her sister who had also married a hockey player that happened to play on Rhett’s team. Rhett, from Huntington Beach, was drafted by that Sweden team and was living his dream as a hockey player. The two were introduced by Shar’s brother-in-law at a bible study and the rest is history mixed with a long long-distance relationship!
Shar is a country girl at heart and just had to have her boots.
The bride and groom got to ride around in style. I am in LOVE with these VW buses!!!
The ring bearer had his own ride too! A specially made Hamboard just for him.
Shar put two separate necklaces together to make this unique look.
Shar and her sisters are beautiful!
Rhett is incredibly good looking too! I just adore his blue suite and tie.
I really like how the groom stands out from the groomsmen.
If you are going to have fun socks… this is the way to go!
They really are hockey players. Look… no teeth to prove it! haha
The cutest little ring bearer in his custom Hamboard.
Shar and Rhett didn’t want to see each other before the wedding but they wanted to pray together. This little corner gave just enough of a shield, but I think Rhett might have peaked!
Putting God first on your wedding day is the best way to start a marriage.
The Hamboard in action…
The ceremony took place at The Chapel on Main – First Christian Church in Huntington Beach, CA.
This shot is the perfect example of why it is important to have a second photographer at the wedding.
This is one of my favorite shots of the day because I just LOVE this worship song! What a blessing to have this over them when they say their vows.
The bride and groom are so sweet! Full of laughter and joy. It was such a pleasure to work with them and their bridal party.
The VW buses made for the most amazing backdrop!
We headed down to the Huntington Beach pier for a few shots too… This provided such precious alone time between the bride and groom.
Gotta have one more shot with that amazing and rare VW bus before we head to the reception at the
Waterfront Beach Resort – a Hilton Hotel.
Kim Turcotte with Petals on Wheels did an absolutely incredible job designing this wedding!
A new trend we are seeing a lot at weddings is a dessert bar. This one had an incredible view of the beach!
Shar was the youngest of four kids and seemed closest with her brother. So sweet that he sat by her at dinner.
We don’t often see the parents give a speech at weddings and we think it is so special when they do. Both the bride and groom’s parents took a turn and shared the most delightful stories of their children. Such a great way to pay tribute to the lives they are celebrating!
Do you see grandma falling?!?! Sometimes the bouquet toss can be dangerous!
(Grandma was ok afterwards so it’s ok to giggle at this blunder! haha)
Thank you for enjoying this wedding with us! We just loved working with Shar and Rhett and wish an abundant amount of God’s blessings on their marriage and life together.
